The Delegation was sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and by the German/American Chambers of Commerce (AHK).

The Delegation visited Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Berlin. In Karlsruhe, the Delegation visited the Fraunhofer Institution for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) and Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe GmbH (KVV).  In Stuttgart, they visited “Stuttgart 21”and the Institute for Railroad and Transportation Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.  In Berlin, they visited the Bombardier Factory, the InnoTran 2012 Trade Fair and Deutsche Bahn (DB) International.

After the Delegation Tour ended, on his own, Michael again visited Wiesbaden and Mainz. He taught an extension college course on the American Base in Wiesbaden one summer in the 1970’s and he wanted to see it again.

Increasing the energy efficiency of US city transit is a climate change mitigation strategy that will improve the US Balance of Trade.  Here are some examples of energy efficiency in US public transit that Michael filmed in 2013:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxVIarFGqtU
